The first year of this course consists of 175
hours of classroom instruction in a wide range of pedagogical
theories and practices associated with English language teaching.
After being presented with the strategies and
theories for each 35 hour module, be it listening, reading, speaking,
writing or methodology, the teacher trainee candidate has the
opportunity to demonstrate his or her understanding and ability,
by planning and presenting two micro-teaching sessions. The first
is done in the training class, the second in a real classroom
situation with real students.
Each of the five modules is independent of the
others. This flexibility is designed to allow candidates to enter
or leave the program at any point. When it is convenient, a candidate
may simply re-enter the course when the untaken module is offered
again.
Once all five onsite modules are successfully
completed, the candidate may begin the second year of the program
in the following month of September.
The second year of the program requires 35 hours
of monitored professional internship, academic research, observations,
attendance at professional seminars, and the planning and execution
of an original didactic project for teaching English.
We at CIS welcome your interest in our Teacher
Training Program. We look forward to getting to know you better,
as we work together toward the attainment of this worthwhile professional
