Yucatecan Cuisine

Yucatan is famous for its many flavourful dishes. Some typical dishes are:

Cochinita Pibil: Marinated pork in achiote, sour orange juice & spices wrapped in banana leaves and baked. The traditional way was to cook it underground.

Sopa de Lima: A chicken broth filled with pieces of fried tortilla, shredded chicken, and lime juice.

Panuchos: Fried tortilla filled with refried beans. Topped with shredded chicken or turkey, lettuce & onion.

Huevos Motuleños: Tortillas covered with refried beans. Topped with fried eggs then smothered with tomato sauce, peas, chopped ham and grated cheese.

CIS NEWS

CIS is pleased to announce our Spanish program is now located in our super-comfortable and convenient downtown campus on Calle 52

SALÓN LOL TÚN
CIS is now equipped with an air conditioned auditorium that seats 50 people. It also has digital projector and audio capabilities. The Mark Davis' MSU group were the first group to use the Salón Lol Tún.

We take you way beyond classroom Spanish. Our varied cultural activities ranging from salsa dance to mayan legends, as well as local excursions, really let our students enjoy the full Yucatecan experience.

This is your opportunity to converse with our local English students. The club speaks for 45 minutes in English and 45 minutes in Spanish.

Cuzumá Cenotes Cuzumá is not far from Merida and is well worth the trip. Platform buggies pulled by horses take you on a 3 hour tour where you get the chance to swim in 3 different cenotes.
