To
assure true “total immersion”, the CIS heartily recommends
student opt for housing with local families.
 Housing
accommodations are comfortable and clean and provide an invaluable
opportunity for participating in local life and for practicing
Spanish every waking hour.
Food
is Yucatecan-style, but no hot peppers are used, unless specifically
requested. Drinking water is safe and hot water is available for
bathing. 
Families
are hospitable and enjoy making foreigners feel at home. A short,
inexpensive bus ride is necessary to reach school from home in
certain locations. Those students who prefer to live within walking
distance may so specify, but are reminded that all housing accommodations
are subject to availability.
